Jesuit Students Adjust to New Fall Plans

Jesuit universities across the country have begun to alter their plans for the fall, stating their concern for students.
Students quarantining in the dorms were not allowed to leave for any reason after their initial arrival, so they had to buy enough grocieries for two weeks. In McKeon, a food delivery system was put in place.

While students from restricted states are required to quarantine off-campus for two weeks before arriving on campus RAs, RFMs and OLs have been able to quarantine on campus. 
Auricchio spoke with Rebecca Stark-Gendrano and Mica McKnight, Assistant Dean for Juniors and Transfer Students and Assistant Dean for Sophomores, respectively. Both assured listeners that they are available and working hard to answer students’ questions. They also noted that the add-drop period will proceed as usual until Sep. 3.

Students Say Health Insurance Policy Puts Them At Risk

Fordham University introduced a new insurance plan over the summer where students must show proof of private insurance or else they will be enrolled in the university’s health insurance plan with Aetna. Although the Health Insurance Office sent out emails at the beginning of the fall semester to remind students who already had an insurance plan in New York City to opt-out of the university’s insurance plan, students studying abroad only got one email in May, right after the policy was announced.

Fordham Professors Rethink History With Grant Money

February 11, 2020
The National Endowment of the Humanities announced 188 projects that it will be funding — two of which are Fordham history professors. The Fordham professors, Scott Bruce, Ph.D.,; and Yuko Miki, Ph.D., will each both receive a fellowship for $60,000 which will last for 12 months. Both plan to use their fellowships to reexamine parts of history that they believe are often ignored.
