After 15 years as the dean of students at Lincoln Center, Keith Eldredge has been appointed as the dean of student services, taking over for Gregory Pappas.

All Gender Restroom Initiative Partially Fulfilled

November 9, 2015
Fordham Lincoln Center has implemented new signage for the third floor single stall bathrooms in the Leon Lowenstein building. After many meetings between The Positive, a student activist group on campus, and Student Affairs administrators, the signs are void of gender icons, include braille, the latest New York State handicap symbol and simply say “restroom.” The Positive officially requested that the signage read, “All Gender Restroom.”

Monday, Jan. 26 brought worry that there would be one of the worst blizzards New York City has ever seen. Winter Storm Juno had winds predicted up to 30 miles per hour and snowfall predicted up to 18 inches, although only seven inches accumulated. It was expected to be one of the worst winter storms in the past 30 years.

Lack of Female Security Supervisors on Campus

The last College Council meeting, on Thursday, Nov. 13, raised concerns about the lack of female security supervisors at Fordham College at Lincoln Center’s (FCLC) campus. Currently, there are eight female security duty supervisors and 43 male security duty supervisors across all campuses. There are 10 male security supervisors and no female supervisors at FCLC.

On Tuesday, Dec. 9, over 100 students participated in a “Die-In” to commemorate victims of police brutality, held in Pope Auditorium at Fordham College at Lincoln Center (FCLC). At 11:21 a.m., the students engaged in four and a half minutes of silence to represent the number of hours Michael Brown’s body lay in the streets of Ferguson after being shot by Officer Darren Wilson.

According to the Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) in the United States Department of Education, Fordham’s sexual assault incident rate, that is incidents per student population, is approximately .00151 from 2010 to 2012. However, according to the White House report, “Rape and Sexual Assault: A Renewed Call to Action,” one in five women have been sexually assaulted in college.
