When the race was canceled in 2019, Pang had already arrived in Svalbard and experienced training in conditions similar to what can be expected in the race.

Another Year of Bad News for the North Pole Marathon

The North Pole Marathon faced cancellation for the second year in a row, this time over concerns about the coronavirus. Jonathan Pang, Fordham College at Lincoln Center ’20, who was set to race in 2019 and then prepared to make it up after cancellation this April, is hoping for redemption in 2021.
Slattery was consistently a strong competitor for the Rams during his time at Fordham.

Fordham Alumnus Takes on the Olympic Trials

Former top performer for the Rams’ men’s cross-country and track and field, Tom Slattery, GSBRH ’18, competed in his third marathon in three months in February. The first marathon was his first race across the distance, and the most recent was against the top marathoners in the country at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Team Trials.
Despite an inconsistent performance overall, several members of Fordham track did well enough to qualify for the ECAC/IC4A Championship in March.

Semisweet Run for Men’s and Women’s Track at Valentine Invitational

Fordham men’s and women’s track raced at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts, on Friday, Feb. 14, and Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. The Rams’ efforts were not extraordinary, but rewarding in that many will have the opportunity to race at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division I Championship on March 7 and 8.
