Inside the Final Days of Fordham Sports

Many Fordham athletes were affected by decisions around the NCAA ending all athletic competitions in early March. Athletes in the winter lost postseasons, while athletes in the spring lost months of play.

Fordham Women’s Basketball Falls in Stunning A10 Semifinal Loss, 60-55

The Fordham women’s basketball team blew a 17-point lead in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament against Virginia Commonwealth University. In the final minute, the Rams missed three of four free throws and lost 60-55, ending their bid for the NCAA Tournament. It is a bitter end to a season in which far more was expected of them.

Women’s Basketball Loses Valiantly in Front of Sellout Crowd

November 13, 2019

Despite falling short in a 60-55 loss, the Rams fought to the final buzzer against Notre Dame, a nationally ranked opponent in front of a sellout crowd. The Observer provides a game recap, as well as analysis and comments from player Bre Cavanaugh.

Women’s Basketball Surprises in Gulf Coast Showcase

Going into the tournament, the unranked Fordham women’s basketball team was largely considered an underdog with the likes of #10 Texas, #21 Missouri and perennial powerhouse Duke also entered. A run to the championship was considered a pipe dream, which made Fordham’s victories all the more satisfying as that dream gradually became reality.
