Undergraduate tuition rates will not increase for the 2021-22 academic year, said University President Rev. Joseph M. McShane, S.J., in an email to the Fordham community on Jan. 22.

The cost to attend Fordham College at Lincoln Center, Fordham College at Rose Hill and the Gabelli School of Business will remain at $54,730 per year.

The announcement halted a gradual trend of tuition increase over the past few years, with the cost rising 3.3% both for the 2019-20 academic year and for the 2020-21 academic year. Over the past decade, tuition has risen 43% from the total cost of $37,782 for undergraduate tuition and fees in 2010.

Fordham’s Board of Trustees ratified the decision at its December meeting and attributed the decision to not wanting “to add to the stress that our families are feeling” during the coronavirus pandemic.

McShane also said that Fordham plans to fully return to face-to-face classes and in-person campus activities for the fall 2021 semester “assuming that the nationwide vaccination program will make that possible.” The university also plans to provide free COVID-19 vaccinations to students, faculty and staff when they become available; a timeline has not yet been set.
