Laura Auricchio, dean of Fordham College at Lincoln Center (FCLC), will be leaving Fordham effective Oct. 4. Following her tenure, she will step into the role of vice president for the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. Dennis C. Jacobs, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, made the announcement in an email to the Fordham Community on Sept 9.
Jacobs highlighted her various accomplishments for the university in the email.
“Dr. Auricchio has greatly enhanced the vibrancy and academic excellence of Fordham College at Lincoln Center,” the email said. “A champion for Jesuit education, Dr. Auricchio introduced many curricular innovations and fostered a holistic liberal arts education for all Fordham students.”
Auricchio has been FCLC’s dean for five years. During her time at Fordham, she aided in the construction of music and art spaces on campus. She has provided students with various opportunities to attend arts events around Manhattan often detailed in her weekly newsletter, as well as built connections between Fordham and the arts industry to better benefit Fordham students.
Auricchio also created the Fordham College Advising Center and led the “Serving the City” program, which offers paid internships at organizations across the city.
Jim McCartin, associate professor of theology and senior associate dean of FCLC, will be the acting dean immediately after Auricchio’s departure.
