Don’t Forget a Mother’s Day Gift

An Edible Arrangement is a great way to show your mother how much you appreciate her. (Tom Reese/Seattle Times/KRT)
Mothers and mother-like figures play a key role in many people’s lives. To most people they are the ones who provide love, care, and keep you grounded. May 8 is that day where you are able to express all the love and care you feel for them through the act of gift giving.  Like every Mother’s Day, many of us at Fordham College at Lincoln Center (FCLC)  are  contemplating what  to give our mothers on Mother’s Day.   Here are some ideas that may simplify the gift giving process:

1. Photo related gifts

Mothers love to display pictures of their loved ones, so what better  gift to give than one that helps them with just that. Personalize a frame and add pictures that bring back lovely memories. Framing and developing photos is inexpensive and easy to do.

SPLURGE: Nexxt by Linea Picture Frames $115

STEAL: Array collage $49

2. Gift Cards to Spa or a Salon

Mothers work hard to please their loved ones and now it’s time the roles get reversed. Pamper your mother by purchasing her a gift card to a luxurious spa where she can enjoy a facial, manicure, pedicure and many other indulgent activities.

SPLURGE: Graceful Spa (Experience 1) $150 includes massage and  facial

STEAL: Randeee Laine Salon’s facials range from $15-75

3. Edible Arrangements

What’s better than chocolate covered fruits posing as a beautiful bouquet of flowers? Edible Arrangements gives you the best of both worlds, a classic bouquet of flowers and the advantage of eating them. Not only are the fruits delicious, but they are beautifully displayed.

SPLURGE: Mother’s Day Berry Bunch – $ 167

STEAL:  Mom’s Berry Special Roses-  $58 (Chocolate- covered strawberries with balloons)

4. Engraved Jewelry

Jewelry is a popular gift given out on Mother’s Day. But to make this gift much more special you can  add a unique twist to it. Engrave a message into a necklace, bracelet or even a ring, and Moms all around will see you as a superstar. Think about it— this message will be there for a lifetime, so just one glance can allow that special mother figure to smile and think back to this Mother’s Day.

STEAL: Antiqued Heart Charm Mothers Necklace $82 (Avaliable on etsy.com)

5. Perfume

Some moms wear perfume all the time but some may leave it for that special night out. Giving perfume as a gift is perfect, because scent is known to be the most powerful of the five senses as it is associated to memories. Next time your mother sprays on her Mother’s Day perfume, she will always reflect on the moment you gave her the gift.
