M&M Cookies: Take a Break and Procrastibake

A lot of people avoid baking cookies from scratch, preferring to take the slice and bake route. However, what many don’t know is that cooking from scratch does not have to be painful and is actually fairly easy and versatile. This recipe for cookies can be used to make regular chocolate chip cookies, M&Ms cookies, nut cookies or even a cookie cake. The entire process should only take 20 minutes and is a perfect procrastination project during finals!

M&M Cookies

Materials:

  • 1 Large Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Spatula or a mixer

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 sticks of butter (melted/softened)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • As many M&Ms as you desire

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Mix the flour, baking soda and salt in the mixing bowl.
  3. Add the softened butter, both sugars, and vanilla extract, by now you should have a creamy mixture.
  4. Add both eggs and beat/mix the mixture well
  5. Add in your M&Ms, the amount depends on how chocolaty you want your cookies to be. I recommend two full cups of dark chocolate M&Ms. You can also substitute the M&Ms for nuts or chocolate chips.
  6. Using a tablespoon spoon out the mixture onto the baking sheet, you can make the cookies as big or small as you like.
  7. Bake for about 10 minutes.
  8. Let cool for about 10 minutes.
  9. Serve and enjoy!
