Fordham claimed its first road win of the year with a 39-27 win at Cornell on Oct. 17 that will go down as one of the best passing performances in school history.

John Skelton, FCRH ’10 and quarterback, threw for a school-record 420 yards and five touchdowns, including a 98-yard score to Asa Lucas, FCRH ’10, the longest touchdown pass in Fordham history.

On most days, a 98-yard hookup would be the highlight of the receiving core, but Jason Caldwell, FCRH ’10, stole the show, catching nine balls for a record 245 yards and four scores.

Skelton’s game was his second 400-yard performance on the season and the Rams are now averaging 484 yards per game of total offense.

For his record setting day, Skelton received national honors as the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Offensive Player of the Week.

Records fell on the defensive side of the ball as well, with Isa Abdul El-Quddus, FCRH ’11, picking off three passes and returning them for a total of 81 yards. Abdul El-Quddus also recorded six tackles and a forced fumble.

For his performance, Abdul El-Quddus was named the NCAA FCS Defensive Player of the Week.

With the win, the Rams improved to 3-3 on the season while holding steady at 1-1 in Patriot League play.
