Men’s Basketball Makes History in 55-39 Loss to Saint Louis

Against Saint Louis Sunday, Fordham men’s basketball did something they hadn’t done in more than a decade. The team only managed to score 39 points in their loss to the Billikens, the third time since 2000 they haven’t reached 40 points and the first time since 2004.
Following a successful freshman season, Nick Honor left Fordham basketball for Clemson last April.

Last season, Nick Honor became the fifth prominent Fordham men’s basketball player to transfer since 2013. Between a change in coaching staff in 2015, recent recruiting woes and general mediocre play, the Rams have struggled to keep their most talented players in the Rose Hill Gymnasium.
The Rams were competitive through three quarters of play, but struggled to contain Holy Cross late in the game.

Women’s Basketball Loses Valiantly in Front of Sellout Crowd

Despite falling short in a 60-55 loss, the Rams fought to the final buzzer against Notre Dame, a nationally ranked opponent in front of a sellout crowd. The Observer provides a game recap, as well as analysis and comments from player Bre Cavanaugh.

Andrew Mevis, FCRH ’21, kicked three field goals against Bryant, two in the second quarter to keep the Rams in contention.

After a 0–2 start and three unremarkable quarters, Fordham scored 23 unanswered points in the fourth quarter against Bryant University, earning their first win of the season in a blowout.
