University President Tania Tetlow and Tokumbo Shobowale, senior vice president, CFO and treasurer, announced Travis Proulx as Fordham’s first vice president for external affairs, effective Jan. 21.
The VP for external affairs will directly report to Shobowale according to the University-wide email that announced his appointment.
Proulx’s role will focus on cultivating the University’s connections in the New York metropolitan area and beyond by working with the Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) and Fordham’s Government Relations operation. Proulx will work alongside CCEL to administer the $50 million dollar grant awarded to the school by the EPA.
Tetlow cited Proulx’s experience in New York state government and administrative positions at both the Environmental Advocates of New York and the State University of New York (SUNY) system as valuable additions to the Fordham Community.
Proulx previously served as vice chancellor for agency and community engagement at SUNY and was a spokesperson for the State Senate and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s administration.
The search committee for the position was chaired by Dr. Michael Trerotola, chief of staff, and composed of Fordham University staff and administration. Notable members include Holly Curtis, assistant provost for corporate relations; James Felton III, vice president for equity and inclusion; and Nancy Totino, senior director of development, mission and public impact initiatives.
