Fordham athletic director Edward M. Kull has accepted the position of athletic director at St. John’s University and will be leaving Fordham effective Sept. 13.
Kull has been the athletic director at Fordham since February of 2021 and has overseen 22 varsity teams as well as club and intramural sports.
Bob Howe, associate vice president for media and public relations, made the announcement on Fordham Now.
“I want to thank Ed for his service to Fordham Athletics, and especially to the student athletes, who thrived under his leadership,” said University President Tania Tetlow. “He has been a highly capable leader and fundraiser, and we wish him the best of luck at St. John’s.”
Breaking the school record, Kull raised $7.6 million in the fiscal year ending in June for Fordham, according to the New York Post.
Before his tenure at Fordham, Kull held several positions in the athletics department at St. John’s. Most recently, he served as chief of staff for athletics and institutional advancement.
In an Instagram post on Fordham Athletics’ page, Kull responded: “My time at Fordham has been nothing short of amazing, I have been honored to be a part of the Ramily for the past seven years and am immensely proud of the work we have done to further this storied institution.”
Tetlow has appointed deputy athletic director Charlie Elwood as interim athletic director while the University begins its search for someone to fill the position permanently.
