Illuminate the Farm at Queens County Farm Museum

The historic farm turns into an illuminated wonderland filled with elaborate lantern displays

As winter approaches, everyone is getting ready to welcome the new season with a bit of holiday spirit. What better way to spend it than going to a vibrant lantern festival?

The Winter Lantern Festival is a nighttime festival filled with colorful lit-up Chinese lanterns inspired by myths and legends. It is found in various locations on the Eastern seaboard, including Long Island, Staten Island, Queens and Washington, D.C.

The Queens County Farm Museum, located at 73-50 Little Neck Parkway, hosts its rendition of the festival, titled Illuminate the Farm. It features lanterns in all shapes and sizes, including walkways, animals and majestic creatures.

The festival is the perfect family-friendly event — and even an Instagram-worthy photo-op — filled with wonder, color and magic.

Illuminate the Farm is open every Friday to Sunday from 5-9 p.m. Starting on Dec. 23, the event is open daily, until it closes on Jan. 8, 2023. Tickets start at $17.99.
