Chris Hennessy, FCLC ‘15, founds The Positive as a student-task force to advocate for gender rights on campus. The group conducts a survey among 414 students that show 90% support gender-neutral bathrooms on campus and reach out to the admin in hope of introducing gender-inclusive bathrooms in Lowenstein.

United Student Government partners with The Positive and Facilities to work within city and building codes to work toward implementing gender-neutral bathrooms on campus. “The history of bathrooms is totally sexist…I mean, women didn’t have bathrooms in the workplace until 1930,” Timoney continued. “So now there is a specific count of bathrooms in buildings designated for males and females,” Timoney said.

Faced with no alternative housing options, Lozano decided to transfer from Fordham after her first year.
