Fish tacos are a great way to incorporate fish into your diet, especially if it’s not your favorite food. Although they are a feature of coastal Mexican food, fish tacos are a common street food in California. It is one of few foods that we in New York are sorely lacking. Here is a healthier take on take-out tacos.

Any kind of meaty, white fish will do – try whatever’s on sale! The garnishes are only suggestions, and any manner of traditional (or original) taco accompaniments (except cheese, which doesn’t really work with fish) would be delicious. Similarly, the type of shell you use is up to your own preference. Make it as hot or mild as you like with the addition of hot sauces and diced chilies.
