At Least 12 Dead in Fire Near Fordham in the Bronx

At least 12 people have died in a fire at an apartment complex near Fordham College at Rose Hill (FCRH) on Thursday, according to Mayor Bill de Blasio. The Fire Department of New York City (FDNY) has reported that at least nine others are injured.

A spokesperson for the FDNY stated that the first emergency call was placed at 6:51 p.m. on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 28. The fire originated on the third floor of the 5-story apartment complex located at 2363 Prospect Avenue, a block away from the Bronx Zoo and 0.5 miles from FCRH.

Bob Howe, the assistant vice president for communications, informed The Observer that there is no student housing at or near the fire location. This post will be updated as more information becomes available.
