“I think ‘The Ram’ is powerful, forceful and has great drive and energy,” Associate Athletic Director of Marketing and Promotions and Overseer of the Mascot Program at Fordham University Julio Diaz Jr. said about the school’s four-legged symbol. The first live ram planted its hooves at the Rose Hill Campus in 1925. Now, it has two legs.

“My tryout to become the human mascot was pretty much meeting with the cheerleaders, telling them my background like what I have done previously such as playing sports and Irish dancing for many years,” said one student, whose identity is hidden as per Fordham’s traditions surrounding “The Ram,” chosen to become the human mascot this academic year.
