De Beauvoir worked alongside Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus and wrote fictional and autobiographical works in addition to her many pieces focused on ethics, feminism and politics. Her most famous book, “The Second Sex” (1949), is widely considered to be one of the major pieces that inspired second-wave feminism.
