On Monday Nov. 26, the Observer attended Lincoln Square’s 13th annual Winter’s Eve Festival. The festival was kicked off with live music and a tree lighting ceremony, which was followed by food samples, dancing, and family activities. Leading up to the countdown and tree lighting, guest singer Laurie Berkner entertained the youth with some fun and funky songs and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus sang a medley of Christmas carols. Just before 6:00 pm, WABC-TV’s Sade Baderinwa led the audience in a countdown to the tree lighting. After the tree was lit, world-renowned singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega closed the ceremony with her hit song “Tom’s Diner.”
