UPDATED: Fordham Prepares for Winter Storm

By HARRY HUGGINS

A nor’easter off the Mid-Atlantic coast will continue to strengthen as it moves north on Wednesday, bringing rain, snow, and/or a mixture of precipitation to areas across the northern Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, as well as wind gusts as high as 60 mph along the coast. Snowfall across interior sections of New England could approach 6-12 inches. Coastal flooding is also possible. (Photo by NOAA)

In preparation for the heavy rainfall from this week’s incoming nor’easter, Fordham is encouraging McMahon Hall residents to stock up on food before the storm. In a university-wide email it was announced that all undergraduate Fordham colleges will be operating normally, with no classes scheduled to be cancelled. Fordham is closing the Louis Calder Center Biological Field Station (Calder Center), in Armonk, N.Y., at 3 p.m. today as a precaution.

The email also reminded students to check the Severe Weather Line at (800) 280-7669 or the Emergency Information Line at (887) 375-4357 for updates. The university will continue to send email and text updates as the storm develops.

UPDATE Nov. 7, 4:51 p.m.: According to the Fordham Emergency Weather Service, shuttle vans at Rose Hill are running until 11 p.m. tonight due to the inclement weather conditions.
