UPDATED:

The Office of the Provost has announced the class schedule for the make-up days on Dec. 11, 12 and 13 for classes missed due to Hurricane Sandy. According to a university-wide email, New York state law requires accredited university programs to maintain a specific number of hours every semester, and these make-up classes will ensure Fordham does not fall below that number.

From the email, the make-up schedules will be:

• Tuesday, December 11: all Tuesday classes will meet as scheduled.
• Wednesday, December 12: Wednesday classes will meet as scheduled
• Thursday, December 13: Monday classes will meet as scheduled.

The final exam schedule has also been updated and posted to the University website here. Changed times and dates have been underlined, but the majority of exams have not been changed.

After Hurricane Sandy forced the cancellation of Fordham classes at all campuses all last week, the university has announced plans to make up missed classes on Dec. 11, 12 and 13. According to a university-wide email from Stephen Freedman, Fordham’s provost, students of the undergraduate colleges, including Fordham College at Rose Hill, Fordham College at Lincoln Center and Gabelli School of Business.

The email laid out the following plan:

  • Currently, Dec. 11 and 12 are scheduled as reading days, with final exams starting Dec. 13.
  • Dec. 11, 12 and 13 will become class make-up days.
  • Exams scheduled for Dec. 13 will move to other normal exam days.
  • On Dec. 14, 17 and 20 there will be three exams scheduled, but students who end up having three exams on one day are allowed to reschedule one to a different day.
  • The Accounting and Modern Languages midterms will be moved to Dec. 15, in the morning and afternoon, respectively.
  • Faculty will be allowed to schedule second make-up days if needed on days that fit their own and students’ schedules, or provide equivalent instruction, such as online assignments or taped lectures.

More details, including a revised exam schedule, will be sent to all faculty and students shortly.
